Welcome to your Employee Handbook

Fàilte - Welcome from the Leadership Group

Dear Colleague,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to your role here at the Scottish Parliament. Our ambition as an organisation is to deliver the best possible quality of service, for the people of Scotland and the parliamentarians who are elected to represent them. You will be playing a vital role in helping us achieve that ambition.

The Scottish Parliament has gone through significant change since it was established in 1999. In recent years, the Parliament has received new powers over income tax and social security and we have reformed many of our procedures and processes. Through all of this change and reform, we have a responsibility to ensure the long-term success of the Scottish Parliament, for current and future generations.

It is vital, therefore, that each of us looks to continuously improve our knowledge and experience. Our learning and development processes are geared to supporting that, from your induction programme to your on-going personal development.

We are also committed to increasing the diversity of our organisation to ensure that our workforce is one that reflects modern Scottish society, and supports our aim of being an outward looking Parliament sharing knowledge and experience with other parliaments around the world. Our leadership and development strategies are geared towards having an inclusive working environment where all staff are valued and respected.

As you get started in your new role and become involved in exciting projects and initiatives, we hope that you will see our values and behaviours demonstrated by colleagues throughout the organisation and in the work that we do.  Your commitment to these values is critical to our mutual success.
