Diversity And Inclusion Is Part Of Everything We Do
We want a Parliament that is accessible and open to people from all walks of life and backgrounds - as a place to work, to visit and to participate. We are committed to providing a great working environment where people enjoy coming to work and feel valued for their contribution and excel in their chosen careers. We attach great importance to Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) and our commitments, reinforced by our Values form a central part of our working culture.
Our Trans and Non-binary Policy sets out our approach to promoting equality, inclusion, and support for trans and non-binary colleagues. This is underpinned by our values which commit to creating an inclusive environment in which all staff feel safe and supported. The Guidance for Managers explains the important role played by managers in achieving the aims of the policy.
Our Diversity and Inclusion Board aims to increase collaboration, accountability and best practice sharing and is responsible for scrutinising and monitoring our commitments. We recognise that as diversity and inclusion continues to evolve in a dynamic society so too must our skills and experiences develop to help us promote inclusion and remove unintended barriers to any groups or individuals. We have made some excellent progress to date but we can, and must, do more. To do your part, you should continually develop your personal skills to help embed inclusive practices into your work and spheres of influence.
